5-BroMo-2-hydroxy-3-Methyl pyrazine - Introduction
Nature:
2-Hydroxy-3-methyl-5-bromopyrazine is a yellow solid. It is soluble in alcohol and ketone solvents, slightly soluble in water.
Usage:
2-hydroxy-3-methyl-5-bromopyrazine is commonly used in the field of organic synthesis. It can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pyrazine derivatives, such as dyes. In addition, it can also be used as a catalyst, reducing agent, and reagent in protective group reactions.
Preparation Method:
2-Hydroxy-3-methyl-5-bromopyrazine is usually prepared by the following steps:
1. reaction of pyrazine with sodium hypobromite to generate 3-bromopyrazine.
2. Using ethanol as solvent, it reacts with cresol under alkaline conditions to form 2-hydroxy-3-bromopyrazine.
3. Finally, 2-hydroxy-3-bromopyrazine was reduced with sodium aluminohydride under hydrogen atmosphere to obtain 2-hydroxy-3-methyl-5-bromopyrazine.
